When someone escapes domestic violence, they’re not looking for charity — they’re looking for safety. And without somewhere safe to go, many are forced to stay in dangerous situations longer than they should.
At North Star Foundation, we believe housing is the first step to rebuilding a life. That’s why we focus entirely on building and maintaining purpose-built emergency accommodation for women and children escaping abuse. These homes aren’t shelters or short-term crash pads — they’re warm, fully furnished, secure spaces designed to give families room to breathe, rest and reset.
Housing comes first because stability comes first. Before counselling, before school resumes, before work can continue — safety needs to exist. A real roof. A clean bed. A place to sit down and feel human again.
Our goal is to deliver 100 homes across Australia in the next five years. And thanks to our community of donors and partners, we’re already building.
